Infant Adoption
M. Ben Aria
Infant adoption is the most popular choice with prospective adoptive parents, but it is also the hardest type of adoption out there, as this article explains ...
Most people who want to adopt look into infant adoption first. I can understand this because many people feel if they adopt an older child they will miss out the bonding that most people associate with infanthood. I can tell you from experience that if you adopt an older child you will love them the same no matter what age they were when they came to you. I can understand wanting an infant however, because it is almost like starting with a clean slate.
People think of infant adoption as being the closest thing to having your own child. There may be some truth in this, because what you adopt an infant, you are the only influence over their life. When you choose a child that is a little older, some of their behaviors have already been learned from somebody else. This doesn’t mean that infant adoption should be your only choice however, because older children or more adaptable than you may ever realize. Even a child with some behavior problems, can be a dream come true for any parent.
Infant adoption is the most popular though, but it is also the hardest type of adoption out there. Because there are so many people who want to adopt an infant, you will find it harder to adopt an infant than any other child. If you go through an agency, you may be put on a very long waiting list. There are other ways to go about infant adoption but even then, you may find yourself waiting many years before you can find a child.
If you are considering infant adoption, but you don’t want to wait for years to get a child, you may want to consider adopting from another country. There are many children and other countries who are abandoned or unwanted at birth, and they are waiting for someone to adopt them. Though this type of infant adoption has a lot more paperwork to deal with, it is probably the fastest way to adopt. If you open your heart and your mind to a child of a different race or a different nationality, you may begin to build your family a lot sooner than you thought. In the end, it doesn’t matter where your child comes from, or what age they are when they come to you, you will love the more than you ever thought you could love another person.

Toddlers Facts & Tips
Asperger's Disorder is a devastating development disorder that has its onset in early childhood, in children as young as two years old. Its best thought of a less impairing form of autism (Pervasive Development Disorder). If you're a parent of a toddler diagnosed with Asperger's Disorder, no doubt you have many questions about this condition and how if affects your child now and in the future. Although it's not wise to "sugar coat" your child's impairment from this disorder, please don't give in to feelings of hopelessness. Just as children with autism or Downs Syndrome live productive lives, the same is true of children with Asperger's Disorder.
